Rachel Circle Studs
This elegant set of earrings features lightweight, dark blue 'circles' that has been skilfully hand-carved from tagua and then dyed.
Tagua is a nut from a type of palm that grows in the South American jungle. Often referred to as vegetable ivory, it is a sustainable and environmentally sound alternative to animal ivory. The nut is finished using a variety of sanding processes, polished to achieve a smooth surface and then dyed. Hand made through two small fair trade projects by artisans who earn a fair wage and have regular work as a result of collaborating with Just Trade.
The metal components are hand cut and polished by Hope Jewellery in Peru, and the tagua is hand carved and dyed by MYA project in Quito, Ecuador.
